Live TV follows the scheduled feed
Live television shows a channel as it is being broadcast. Viewers normally join at the current point rather than beginning a programme from its start. Availability is determined by region, broadcaster rights and service terms. Watching live TV in the UK usually raises a TV Licence requirement.
Catch-up is provider-controlled on demand
Catch-up services let viewers watch selected programmes after their original broadcast. A provider decides which titles appear and how long they remain accessible. “Seven-day catch-up” is not a universal technical feature and should never be assumed for every channel.
Recording is a separate capability
Some approved devices or services allow recordings within their own rules. Storage limits, simultaneous recording restrictions and rights controls may apply. A player advertising a record button does not guarantee it may legally record or preserve every stream.
Ask for the exact feature you need
If a missed programme matters, ask for the named channel and title rather than “catch-up included”. Confirm replay windows, account limits, subtitles and device support. Read the provider’s current terms and the UK TV Licence rules where relevant.
