Install an app on Google TV
Google’s official instructions say to use Search or the Apps area of the Google TV home screen, choose a compatible app and select Install. Multiple profiles can share installed apps, with exceptions for children’s profiles. Use the app’s official listing to check what it provides and whether a subscription is required.
Install an app on Android TV
On Android TV, open Apps and then Google Play Store where your device has that option. Search for the app, read its listing and install it. Some TV boxes are described as “Android” but are not certified Android TV devices; they may have different controls, stores or update support. Check the exact model name before relying on a compatibility claim.
Keep an app running smoothly
If video stops playing, test another authorised app first. Update the system, check available storage and review the app’s own error message. Restarting the TV or box is usually a safer first step than deleting all settings. If one app cannot be found, that may simply mean it is not listed for your device or region.
Account and subscription questions
Installing a player and paying for television content are often separate steps. Before you pay for any plan, confirm the provider supports the exact app and that the content is lawfully made available in your location. See the subscription checklist for questions worth sending to a provider.
